Herd
Hierarchies
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each herd has the same fundamental structure and positions. These positions are laid out
and defined for you below, as well as how to become that position if you so desire.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
SovereignThe sovereign is the leader of the herd, chosen by the herd's god or goddess. Each sovereign has a special characteristic granted to them, so that they can be recognized. The sovereign can be either male or female, and must be at least five years old. The position can only be attained through auditions held by the staff.
ConsortThe consort is the sovereign's chosen mate. Consorts are not granted any special characteristics; they are just given the title. Although their duties do not differ from a regular herd member's, consorts are to be respected at all times. The position can only be attained through role-playing with the sovereign.
AmbassadorThe ambassador is the sovereign's second-in-command. Depending on their relationship with the sovereign, they may also be the sovereign's best friend and advisor. The ambassador is the leader of any war movements, and must be at least five years old. The position can only be attained through auditions held by the staff.
Herd MemberHerd members are the only position whose title changes depending on the herd. These horses make up the heart of each herd, and are responsible for looking out for each other. The titles are as follows:
- Runyari: Flamecatchers
- Sulero: Windriders
- Alusia: Tidewalkers
- Kemenu: Earthgoers
- Coia: Soulseers
EsteemedThe esteemed are simply herd members who have reached the age of 9 or above. This does not mean they are elderly; rather, it means that they have proved themselves to the herd, and are well respected.
BroodThe brood consists of the offspring of any herd members, including the sovereign and ambassador's children. The brood are considered herd members in training. They need to be weaned and taught how to wield their element. Horses are considered brood until they reach the age of three.
DepartedAll herds respect and cherish the ones who have passed on. The departed is simply a list of horses who were once a part of the herd. Departed are never forgotten, and many become a hero to the rest of the herd. Their names are often used when telling stories or teaching brood.
