Site Rules
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
As much as we'd love to be rule-free, rules are the best way to keep things organized, and
ultimately make Epic a functional and entertaining roleplay forum. Please follow the rules
that have been laid out in this thread. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask
a staff member, or any other member of the site.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Out of Character
- You must be at least 13 years old to join (read this for more information).
→ WL 4- We are a PG-13 community.
→ WL 0- Although the members here refer to themselves as friends, and sometimes even family, please be careful when giving out personal information.
→ WL 0- Be respectful and courteous to everyone, members and guests alike.
→ WL 1- Do not post any content that is violent, pornographic, or can possibly be considered harassment. You are also prohibited from posting anything that promotes racism or illegal substances (read this for more information).
→ WL 4- We expect all members to post something at least once a week. If you just login, chat in the cbox, and log out, that is not considered active. If you are not able to post something at least once a week for any reason at all, notify us in the Absences board.
→ WL 1- Double posting is not allowed, unless in a personal thread (such as an advertisement, a tracker thread, or a plot thread).
→ WL 2- Swearing is allowed, just not excessively.
→ WL 1- There is absolutely no stealing! If you are caught stealing, a screen shot will be taken of the offense for our records, and you will be told to remove it.
→ WL 3
Character Creation
- All characters must be created as a normal horse except for your first character. To have an unrealistic appearance, you must buy items from the Champion's Market.
→ WL 1- Your first character is allowed an unlimited amount of appearance items. This means you can create them however you want, with wings, horns, tattoos, odd colored eyes, etc.
→ WL 0- There is no limit on how many characters you can have, as long as you can keep them all active.
→ WL 0- No Mary Sue's or Gary Stu's. These are characters that are virtually flawless. If you have a character with a stunning personality, make them have a sort of appearance flaw. If you have a character who is the most beautiful of them all, make sure their personality has some sort of negative.
→ WL 0- For every two females you create, you must create one male. The opposite also applies; for every two males you create, you must create one female.
→ WL 1- There is a minimum height of 13 hh, and a maximum height of 18 hh, unless you buy an extension from the Champion's Market.
→ WL 1- We require trackers, or character logs. One tracker per member, please. All characters must be listed in your tracker, and each character must have a link to their biography, their element, and any items they have (even if they are freebie appearance items from the first character creation). Many people choose to add relationships and current threads, but those are not required.
→ WL 1
In Character
- As a roleplayer, you will know almost all feelings and thoughts of the characters you roleplay with. However, your character will not know what others are feeling and thinking, so don't make it seem like they do.
→ WL 1- No power-playing! This is when you control another player's character in your post. An example would be, "Fluffy kicked Smarty and broke his leg." To avoid power-playing, you would instead say, "Fluffy kicked at Smarty, hoping to break his leg."
→ WL 2- No god-moding! This is when you pretend your character is god-like, and therefore invincible. Using the example before, if Fluffy kicked Smarty, Smarty would most likely feel some kind of pain (unless he avoided the kick). Saying that Fluffy's kick didn't hurt Smarty at all would be god-moding.
→ WL 2- Keep the posting order. If Fluffy makes the thread, Smarty replies, and then Ginger replies after that, Smarty must wait for Fluffy to make a reply. Technically, it would go A B C A B C, not A B C B A B C.
→ WL 1- The above rule can be ignored if you have waited more than a week for the person ahead of you to reply.
→ WL 0
Breeding, Stealing, Battles, & Praying
- For the breeding rules, please go to this thread.
→ WL 0- We do not have any system set up for stealing. This is because it often ruins or delays the plots of the character stolen. If you wish to steal a character for your herd, please plan it and coordinate it with the role-player of the character you would like to steal.
→ WL 0- Battles are few and far between here. There are many disputes and disagreements, however. If a war between herds is imminent, battle rules will be posted. Please message September if you would like to declare war between herds and she will set everything up.
→ WL 0- For the praying rules, please go to this thread.
→ WL 0
Elements & Powers
- There are two types of powers: elemental powers and purchased powers. Elemental powers are the ones that every single character on Epic has. Purchased powers are the powers that you are able to buy in the Champion's Market.
→ WL 0- Each character is allowed one elemental power. if they join a herd, they have a specific element given to them (Runyari is fire, Sulero is air, Alusia is water, Kemenu is earth, and Coia is spirit). If they join as a rogue, you get to choose one of the elements for them.
→ WL 0- Elemental powers always start out at the apprentice level. You may purchase the higher levels from the Champion's Market. A detailed description of each level, as well as the powers of each element, are found here.
→ WL 0- Each character can have as many purchased powers as they desire, as long as you can afford them. All purchased powers are listed in the Champion's Market.
→ WL 0
Warning System
- There are five warning levels (WL's): 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. The severity and punishments of each level are described below.
- All levels stack up in a period of three months. This means that if you have a warning level of 1, and later break a WL 2 rule within the three months afterwards, you will now have a warning level of 3. Warning levels are reduced back to 0 after 3 months have passed.
- Warning Level 0: This is not a warning at all. It is simply a stated fact about the site, or a guideline that you must follow. If you fail to comply with these rules, you will simply receive a message from the staff letting you know.
- Warning Level 1: A minor break of the rules. You will receive a warning from the staff, as well as not be able to purchase anything from the Champion's Market for one week.
- Warning Level 2: Slightly more serious than WL 1. Breaking a WL 2 rule will result in a warning from the staff. You will not be able to purchase anything from the Champion's Market for two weeks, and you will also be banned from the cbox for one week.
- Warning Level 3: A major break of the rules. You will receive a warning from the staff. You will not be able to purchase anything from the Champion's Market for one month, and you will also be banned from the cbox until your warning level is reset.
- Warning Level 4: Breaking any of the WL 4 rules will result in a ban. You will be given three days to gather any information that you posted, such as biographies or images (unless this information was stolen). After those three days, your account will be deleted and your IP will be banned from the site and cbox.
